Paris in January

As we get ready to head home next week for a visit to Minnesota, we are bracing for snow and colder temperatures. We watch the news and temperatures there and hear how this has been one of the coldest Januarys in decades. It has been cold here, too, but we are not complaining. Temps hover in the thirties and forties, no snow, and the grass is even somewhat green. Still, when you don't have a car, bundling up with boots, scarves, and hats is necessary. I guess that is why they are all so popular here!

Whether walking just to enjoy the beautiful gardens, neighborhoods, or just to do some shopping, there are always sights to snap with the camera or iphone that I usually carry. Here are some pictures of the Tuilleries Gardens at dusk....

The cold doesn't stop the kids from playing in this park....

Today, we bundled up in the 38 degree day and walked through the same garden all the way past the Hotel d'Ville near Notre Dame (to get a certain wedding gift for a certain son who is getting married!)......

I guess not everyone "bundles up".......

On the way home, after enjoying a beer and French Fries, we even ran into a Chinese New Years parade, complete with dragon floats and firecrackers!
