A little more room

This morning we signed a lease to our apartment (second one from the blog) in the seventh arrondisement, near the eiffel tower. We cannot move in until March 1st, so we needed to find something temporary. I searched online and went to VRBO.com, which is Vacation Rentals by Owner, and found a cute flat near where we will live. It is about 10 minutes from the eiffel tower, in a very nice area full of cafes, shops, and markets. Rue Cler, a popular open market, is nearby.

We packed up all of our bags Sunday morning and found a taxi big enough to take us to this flat. It is a building nearly 100 years old with tall, French windows, two bedrooms, kitchen, living room/dining room and bath. It is long and narrow and nicely furnished. It will be fun to be in something so Parisian before moving into our more modern apartment later.

We are enjoying a string of 6 sunny days here, very unusual for Paris. That must explain why the outdoor cafes are full of happy people, the parks are full of walkers, bicyclists and sight-seeers! We walked around the neighborhood yesterday to see what is around. We then took the metro to some new-found friends' flat south of Paris for dinner. They treated us to a very French meal, wine, and conversation until after 11:30!!

Here are some pics of the apartment:

Ooo, it looks very nice! Glad you are having such a nice string of weather...you certainly aren't missing much weather-wise back home. Enjoy these next few weeks before you move into your more "permanent" place. Love all the pics and updates. Love, Christa

How charming! Nate and I loved the Rue Clar area. It's so fun that we can picture where you are. Hope to see you at the end of the month.
